Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil: a Savannah Story
by John Berendt
First edition hardback with dust jacket, published by Random House New York in 1994. The dust jacket has some minor edge wear but apart from that, this book is in very good condition inside and out, with no creases, tears or annotations.
With 216 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list and a finalist for the 1995 Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction, this is a must read for those interested in the American Southern Gothic genre. Berendt's well-researched tale of murder in the charming town of Savannah, Georgia reads like a novel but is in fact the story of a terrible true crime and its courtroom aftermath. Eccentric characters abound in this slice of life story, with the town of Savannah playing its part as one of them. Enjoy!
